Parham is one of the country's finest Elizabethan houses, set at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex. This beautiful place has changed little over the centuries and remains a family home.

It is a traditional stone E-shaped Elizabethan mansion, built in 1557. Idyllically set in the heart of an ancient deer park, below the South Downs, the house contains an important collection of needlework, paintings and furniture.

Complete with a Great Hall and spectacular Long Gallery which is the third longest in England, Parham’s tranquillity and timeless beauty have changed little over the centuries. The gardens include a four-acre Walled Garden with stunning herbaceous borders and Pleasure Grounds.

We will travel by coach from Wokingham. Tea and coffee will be available on our arrival before we start our private guided tour of the house.  The tour will last approximately one and a half hours.

Please note there is no lift access to the two upper floors.

A light lunch will then be provided in the Big Kitchen.

After lunch you will have plenty of time to  explore the extensive Pleasure Gardens before returning home.

The cost will be £66 - to include coach travel, a guided tour of the house and a salad lunch.

Explore London’s famous – and infamous – East End!

Venture out from the eastern fringes of the City of London and you are immersed in an entirely different and exciting neighbourhood. From Romans to Dockers, from Regency immorality to Victorian philanthropy, via Brioche, Beigels, Bratwurst and Banglatown, this tour tells the fascinating story of London’s East End melting pot.

Lurid tales of Jack the Ripper are famous worldwide. In 1888, five local women were murdered in hideous fashion. Explore the nooks and crannies of the Whitechapel area as you uncover the secrets of Victorian London.

Over the centuries, immigrants have added to the rich mix of social life in the area: from French Huguenots and Jewish refugees to more recently the Bangladeshi A walk down the always buzzing Brick Lane, with its huge variety of curry houses, will immerse your senses in the Bangladeshi culture. There is a huge and eclectic range of markets, stalls and shops daily, from hip and retro fashion and music to diverse street food and pop.

An area once described as “The Abyss” by Jack London is, now a vibrant, multicultural creative “quarter”, with a comical, gory, entertaining and chilling tale to tell.

We will make our own way to London to meet up with our Blue Badge Guide, Martin Brown, at Tower Hill Tube station at 2pm for a 2 hour walk ending at Liverpool Street Station.
